Obidimma Ezezika wins first Global Educator Award

Obidimma Ezezika, an assistant professor, teaching stream, at the r Scarborough, has received .

The award recognizes faculty members who embody r’s global mission and whose approach to teaching demonstrates intercultural or global fluency – the ability to successfully operate and communicate within different cultural contexts.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to be receiving this inaugural award,” said Ezezika, who teaches at  at r Scarborough and is . “Intercultural fluency is a critical 21st century skill and I’m grateful to the many students at the university who continue to inspire me to create the conditions for a global learning environment in every course I teach.”

Professor Joe Wong, vice-provost and associate vice-president, international student experience, is chair of the r Global Educator Award. He said the committee was impressed with Ezezika's commitment to creating “a truly global learning environment” for his students.

“His approach to teaching and learning reflects a diversity of perspectives and invites engagement from all students,” Wong said. “Professor Ezezika is committed to creating a truly inclusive learning experience, reflecting r’s global diversity among our students, staff and faculty, as well as in the city of Toronto.”

Ezezika receives an award of $3,000 and will be honoured at the Excellence in Teaching reception this fall.
